Counsel Brian Malkin will speak at the New York State Bar Association’s event “Practical Implications of Decriminalized Marijuana for the Legal Practitioner,” on October 3 in New York.

The event will cover the issues arising as 30 states, including New York, have legalized marijuana. Issues being discussed include health law, immigration, intellectual property law, employment law, and others.

Brian will speak on the “Food and Drug Law” panel with Thomas J. Schultz, Esq., Connecticut Pharmaceutical Solutions LLC, and Joy Beckerman, President of Hemp Industries Association.. Notably, Joy’s Association was responsible for challenging the DEA’s ruling on CBD’s scheduling and focuses on the development of hemp products, and Thomas’s company  is one of four registered medical cannabis companies in Connecticut, which is also compliant with good manufacturing procedures. As Co-Chair for the Committee on Cannabis Law, Brian brings his expert opinion to the panel with his myriad of clients and experiences in the FDA and Cannabis industries.

NYSBA’s Cannabis Law Committee is presenting a program that will give attorneys and others an overview of how legalized marijuana affects and intersects with these different practice areas and what developments to anticipate in the near future.
